The eHive system is built simply: the device measures, the data is transferred, and in the app it becomes a clear graph. The goal is not to collect data for the sake of data, but to help the beekeeper decide when to go to the site and when it is better to leave the hive alone.
Measurement at the hive
bhScale tracks weight changes and, depending on the setup, temperature. This gives you daily gain, night loss, longer-term trends and the effect of interventions without opening the hive unnecessarily.
Data transfer
If the hive is nearby, Bluetooth is enough. For remote apiaries, bhBase sends the data through the mobile network to the app. The choice is therefore driven by the way you work, not by marketing labels.
App and interpretation
In the app, you can follow development by day and across the season. The value of the system is not in one number, but in the fact that from the trend you can estimate nectar flow, dearth, an intervention in the colony or a technical problem. That is why it makes sense to look mainly at the trend, not at one isolated point.
