The eHive system is built simply: the device measures, the data is transferred, and in the app it becomes a clear graph. The goal is not to collect data for the sake of data, but to help the beekeeper decide when to go to the site and when it is better to leave the hive alone.
bhScale tracks weight changes and, depending on the setup, temperature. This gives you daily gain, night loss, longer-term trends and the effect of interventions without opening the hive unnecessarily.
If the hive is nearby, Bluetooth is enough. For remote apiaries, bhBase sends the data through the mobile network to the app. The choice is therefore driven by the way you work, not by marketing labels.
In the app, you can follow development by day and across the season. The value of the system is not in one number, but in the fact that from the trend you can estimate nectar flow, dearth, an intervention in the colony or a technical problem. That is why it makes sense to look mainly at the trend, not at one isolated point.
No registration, no complicated settings. Put it under the hive, insert the batteries, pair it and it is done. The app is free, without subscription, without ads, on Android, iOS and Windows.
For a remote site, add bhBase, insert a SIM card with a data plan, set which scales it should connect to. The data arrives automatically and there is nothing else to deal with.
bhBase can handle up to 10 scales, so the cost of the base station and the SIM card is shared across the whole site. Solutions where each scale needs its own GSM connection become significantly more expensive with a larger number of hives.
It is not just weight. From the trend you can see nectar flow, dearth, an intervention in the colony or a technical problem. The value of the system is not in one number.
